Dr. Mindy Powell is a board-certified dermatologist who has been proudly serving the Tucson community since 2004. Originally from Manhattan, Kansas—affectionately known as “The Little Apple”—Dr. Powell developed an early passion for medicine through deeply personal family experiences. When her older sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Dr. Powell became fascinated by the human body’s complexity and resilience. Later, the loss of a close friend to leukemia during high school solidified her commitment to pursue a career in medicine. Her personal journey with severe cystic acne further influenced her decision to specialize in dermatology.
Dr. Powell earned her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 1996 and completed her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2000. She then went on to complete her dermatology residency at the University of Kansas in 2004.

Shortly after residency, Dr. Powell relocated to Tucson, where she has built a life and a career rooted in compassionate care and long-term patient relationships. She is married and the proud mother of four sons. Outside the clinic, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and spending time with her dog, Buckeye. A lover of literature and puzzles, she’s especially fond of board games and is a devoted fan of the New York Times Games section—Wordle included.
Dr. Powell believes that the key to happiness lies in meaningful relationships. She considers it a privilege to work in a field that allows her to connect with people each day and support them in their health and well-being.
